Description
Porsche Cayman (987. 2) Manual – Basalt Black
An exceptionally low-mileage example of the desirable second-generation (987. 2) Porsche Cayman, fitted with the engaging 6-speed manual transmission and finished in factory Basalt Black Metallic. Showing just 38, 200 miles from new, this car was restored to a very high standard following its Category D classification—so much so that it was featured in a dedicated Porsche magazine article post-restoration.

Condition & Maintenance
Provenance & Restoration: Category D recorded, but restored to a high standard and featured in a Porsche magazine. Mechanicals: Low mileage, runs smoothly, and has a current MOT. Brakes will require a fluid bleed. Cosmetics: Priced reflectively for minor aesthetic jobs left for the next owner: Roof liner is sagging (typical 987 issue). Minor clearcoat bubbling on some areas of the bodywork.
Priced very competitively at £14, 995 to reflect the Cat D history, brake service, and cosmetic touch-ups required. A fantastic, manual 987. 2 base with great history and modernised cabin tech.
I bought this because finding a low-mileage 987. 2 manual for reasonable money is almost impossible now.
What made me take the plunge despite the Cat D status was how well it had been put back together—it was built to such a high standard that a Porsche mag actually ran a feature on it.
If you haven't driven a 2. 9, it’s arguably the most fun engine of the lineup on real roads. You can actually work the 6-speed manual and rev it out properly without doing insane speeds, and the hydraulic steering feedback is night and day compared to modern electric racks. Plus, the 987. 2 engine gives you complete peace of mind over the earlier Gen 1s.
It’s just a honest, incredibly tight-driving car that’s ready for someone to finish off the last few minor jobs and enjoy.
