With some reluctance I've decided to sell my ex-Hampshire Fire Brigade Dennis D series FE, built by Dennis in 1970 for Hampshire Fire Brigade, with a Dennis body.
It was originally fitted with a Jaguar 4. 2 XK engine, but as with many petrol powered Hampshire appliances was converted to a 354 cubic inch (5800 cc) Perkins 6. 354. 4 turbo diesel by Perkins agents Peterborough Engineering (Hindle Power) in the 1980s. It has a five speed gearbox and single speed rear axle.
The body is wood framed, with aluminium panelling to the rear and fibreglass panelling to the cab, and it is still complete with tank, PTO pump etc. The original blue lights, two tone horns and Hampshire Fire Brigade signs and crests are with it, I have a wooden Bailey ladder available (shown in the photos), and also a spare engine available separately.
This Dennis was stationed at Emsworth for many years before being retired and used for driver training duties for a while before being sold. I bought it direct from Hampshire Fire Brigade at auction in the mid 1990s and showed it for a number of years.
It turned heads and created a lot of interest, but I'm not using it and it needs to go to a good home with someone who will look after it as it deserves. It's straight and sound, but needs light restoration as you can see in the photos, some mechanical work and recommissioning.
I'm asking £2750, based on prices for similar vehicles; I'm more than happy to talk through it and discuss price with anyone who is genuinely interested in what is an increasingly rare but very usable and economic to run classic commercial.
