Description
2000 Mercedes-Benz SL320 (R129)
The only reason it’s I had some bad experience and someone used my Reg plate !
A very well cared-for SL320 that has been regularly maintained and drives beautifully. The car has been serviced by a Mercedes specialist, with the most recent service carried out recently. The transmission fluid was also changed a few months ago.
It’s got MOT till August 2027
Last year, the underside was professionally treated with Lanoguard rust protection, carried out by Lanoguard themselves, giving the underbody additional protection for the future.
Mechanically, the car runs very smoothly and is in good overall condition for its age. The electric soft-top mechanism works perfectly. It also comes with the original removable hardtop and a hardtop storage stand.
As you would expect with a 25-year-old classic, there are a couple of minor points worth mentioning. The soft-top rear plastic screen has some cracking, although the roof itself operates perfectly. The centre ventilation outlet is currently not operating correctly due to a faulty vacuum actuator.
Overall, this is a very enjoyable and well-maintained example of the R129 SL320. It has been looked after rather than neglected, with sensible preventative maintenance carried out, and it drives smoothly and comfortably. A great usable modern classic that can be enjoyed as it is. It’s got 2 keys but using the card key cause the original one I have lost the chip ! Comes with the full service history
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Mercedes R129. It’s one of those cars that combines classic Mercedes engineering, comfort and timeless styling, and I bought this SL320 because I wanted a classic that I could actually enjoy driving regularly.
The 3. 2-litre engine is smooth and refined, and the car is equally enjoyable with the roof down on a sunny day or with the hardtop fitted, when it feels like a proper grand tourer.
What I particularly like about this car is how solid and well engineered it feels, even after more than 25 years. I’ve tried to look after it properly during my ownership, including regular specialist maintenance and preventative rust protection, rather than simply waiting for things to go wrong.
It’s a genuine, usable R129 that I’ve enjoyed owning and driving, and I hope the next owner will appreciate it as much as I have.
