V8 MANUAL. THE RARE ONE.
Almost every 4. 0 V8 left the factory with the automatic box. Very few were built with the manual and you hardly ever see one now. If you have been looking for this exact specification, you already know why.
THE CAR
Rover V8, four litres, 185 hp, with a TIMING CHAIN rather than a belt: no belt changes every few years. Torque from low down, long gearing and the sound only an eight can make. With the manual box you pick the gear yourself, which matters off-road and on a climb.
Permanent four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case on a separate ladder chassis: genuine off-road ability, not a soft-roader. Rated to tow up to 3, 500 kg braked, so a horsebox, a boat or a plant trailer is no trouble.
WHEELS
Four BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/ A KO2 with almost full tread, on Land Rover five-spoke alloys. The rear-mounted spare carries the same wheel and the same tyre: a puncture far from anywhere means fitting an identical wheel and carrying on.
EQUIPMENT
Air conditioning, sunroof, alpine light windows, electric windows and mirrors, central locking, power steering, driver airbag, steering wheel audio controls and a Pioneer head unit with Bluetooth and USB. Side steps and front bull bar. Beige and brown leather-and-cloth interior.
CONDITION
Bodywork and paint are well preserved for the age. There are light surface scratches on one side, photographed in the listing, and a scuff on the rear lower valance. I show them here so you see them before you travel, not when you arrive.
The interior is in very good order: no tears in the seats, headlining tight and not sagging, no cracks in the dashboard, carpets in good condition.
TERMS
Private sale. The car can be seen and driven in Sonseca, Toledo, one hour from Madrid, and you are welcome to bring your own mechanic or inspector. The buyer arranges transport and registration in the destination country; I will help with the Spanish export paperwork. No part exchange.
