This is a genuine Toyota MR2 Mk1 (AW11) with approximately 105, 000 miles. It is a UK car and has been owned and maintained with the intention of improving and preserving it as an enthusiast car.
The car is fitted with the sought-after Eurosport widebody kit, Enkei Comp wheels with semi-slick tyres, K&N cold-air intake, sports exhaust, Nardi steering wheel and RayBrig blue-tinted headlights. It also has a Blaupunkt Bluetooth head unit.
The bodywork has received significant attention, including repaired and welded sills, repairs to the widebody kit and a touch-up respray to various areas. The car has full history and has been maintained and improved throughout its ownership.
As with any nearly 40-year-old classic, the car is not presented as a concours example and does have age-related imperfections. The bodywork and modifications are best appreciated in person, and prospective buyers are welcome to inspect the car thoroughly.
The car is being sold due to a change in plans and the realisation that I won’t have the time or space to complete the project to the standard I’d like. I’d rather see it go to another enthusiast who can continue to enjoy and develop it.
I bought this MR2 because I’ve always loved the character and styling of the AW11, and during my ownership I’ve enjoyed developing it into the car you see today.
When I purchased it, the car already had the Eurosport widebody kit, K&N intake, sports exhaust and aftermarket gear knob fitted. I decided to build on that foundation rather than completely change the character of the car.
During my ownership, I’ve fitted the Enkei Compe wheels and semi-slick tyres, chosen specifically to complement the widebody and give the car a more purposeful, period Japanese motorsport-inspired appearance. I’ve also fitted the RayBrig blue-tinted headlights, Nardi steering wheel and Blaupunkt Bluetooth head unit, adding my own touches while keeping the car feeling appropriate for its age.
A large part of my ownership has also been spent on the car’s bodywork. The Eurosport widebody has been repaired and refreshed, various areas of the bodywork have received attention and the sills have been repaired and professionally welded. The intention was to improve and preserve the car rather than simply leave it as an ageing modified classic.
I particularly love the combination of the white exterior, ivory interior, widebody styling and Enkei wheels. It has a really distinctive look and stands out without losing what makes an AW11 an AW11.
The end result is a unique, enthusiast-owned MR2 with plenty of character, combining the original mid-engined, lightweight driving experience with some carefully chosen Japanese-inspired modifications.
I’ve genuinely enjoyed putting my own stamp on the car during my ownership, and I’m now hoping it finds another enthusiast who will appreciate what it is and continue its story. Everything thus far has been documented and I have a large folder with records thought out the years of the car being around.
