I could spend hours describing the finer points of this car, which is truly exceptional in all respects, but the best advice is probably to take a look for yourself. The golf cabriolet is no longer being manufactured so the demand for a good one is likely to rise, yet so many of the mechanical parts are shared across the VW range that the availability is secured. If you want to own one then make sure you buy a good one.
The golf is perfect as a convertible to own and cherish for many years not only does it look great and drive like new, it is well equipped with enough extras to satisfy most people. The car is a pearlescent metallic white which was a colour upgrade. The wheels are pristine diamond cut alloys, the hood is in great condition and rises and lowers in no time at all (the hoods on these cars are a technical masterpiece). Extras include cruise control, parking sensors, climate control a/ c, heated Alcantara seats, much nicer than leather, entertainment system with phone pairing. Also expensive lighting upgrade and a very useful wind deflector that I have in place most of the time. There are also other standard extras that come with this model.
The car has only been used in summer by me, it does not go out in the rain and is otherwise permanently garaged.
I originally bought the car as a replacement for my MGB which I was having difficulty getting in and out of, not being ready to give up on open top motoring the golf seemed an ideal choice (I had previously owned a mk1 golf convertible).
I was impressed by the original condition of the car and the detailed history and the fact that it had been bought new from the local VW dealer and had been maintained and serviced by them. I have continued to keep the service records up to date and have had the timing belt and water pump replaced since buying the car to maintain the reliability for which the 2. 0tdi engine is legendary.
The cabin is a really nice place to be with alcantara heated seats climate control together with a wind deflector that has proven to be very effective.
In fact inside the golf feels like you could be in a much larger convertible but with the drive ability for which they are well known.
The golf has been popular with the family not least my granddaughter who promptly christened it strawberry sunshine, sorry I digress.
The golf has been recently mot’d, it costs £35 a year to tax is cheap to insure and can return 50-70mpg. What’s not to like?
Unfortunately I am now in my late 70’s and I need to do some future planning so I am reluctantly putting the car up for sale.
I have looked at comparative prices and asked myself how much it would cost if I were buying the car. I have then reduced the asking price to a reasonable figure.
