1998 Jaguar XK8 in good mechanical condition.
Bought March 2026 from Edwin Ferneyhough Vehicle Sales, a family run dealership near Birmingham. It was sold to him by a Jag enthusiast. Kept dry stored.
MOT’d until March 2027. Passed last MOT with 1 advisory (intermittent washer jet) which has since been fixed.
Has receipts and service history back to 2004. V5 says 11 keepers.
Had an engine replacement in 2015 (documented) to replace the Nikasil lined engine with a steel lined one. Also has Gen 3 (metal) timing chain tensioners.
So the two biggest reliability issues have been fixed.
Has 20” wheels which it already had when purchased (originals not available)
Dives very smoothly. J-gate works correctly. AC fully functional. Has spare wheel and reflective breakdown warning triangle.
Has done just over 106k miles but has only done about 10k since 2015.
Only issue that will need to be fixed before the next MOT is that there is a large crack in the windscreen which started in the bottom passenger side corner and has migrated along the bottom and up towards the middle.
The car has some cosmetic issues:
-Has a light scuff mark on the diver’s side front bumper (hit in the night by an uber eats diver)
-Small blemish at the top of the passenger rear wheel arch. Appears to be a DIY repair by a previous owner and didn’t get the paint colour quite right.
-Minor corrosion on both rear wheel arches.
Interior (like outside some minor cosmetic issues):
Leather seats in good condition but the right side of the driver’s seat has some normal use ware and a tear.
Wood steering wheel with no damage.
Clean and well secured headlining.
There is a small mark where the lacquer has been damaged on the passenger side dashboard.
The wooden gear knob has some cracks but isn’t chipped.
Small LCD display for climate system has faded.
All dashboard lights work apart from the green headlight signifier.
I bought this car because I’d become board of driving small hatchbacks, I wanted something interesting. Something you don’t see too often.
When browsing I stumbled on the XK8, looks stunning, V8 engine and it’s a Jaaaaag.
I knew an XK8 was the one.
And it certainly didn’t disappoint. Easy to drive, smooth, comfortable and surprisingly practical with a good sized boot. With enough grunt to have some fun.
It’s been well looked after by Edwin who I bought it from, as a car dealer he sees all sorts come through and he chose this one to use as his personal vehicle for a time.
And the owner before that loved it too and were part of a Jaguar owners club.
Even though it’s not a family car it’s great for taking long drive to the seaside with a loved one. Or going for a razz with a mate.
It looks fantastic, you can see the E-Type DNA and it’s a great talking point for friends and colleagues alike and is a good ice breaker at car meets.
You might hear “4 litre V8” and be intimidated but it’s truly lovely and easy drive.
The only reason I’m looking to sell it is because I’ve moved on the an XKR, talk about getting hooked.
