Description
1969 Fiat 500F Fully Restored & Upgraded Original RHD Classic
A superb example of the iconic Fiat 500F, presented in its original right hand drive configuration and finished in the beautiful Avorio Antico (Antique Ivory).
This particular 500 has undergone a comprehensive restoration, with the work extensively photographed throughout to document the quality and attention to detail(. 140 photos) The restoration was completed in 2012 and the car has been carefully maintained since.
The car has also benefited from a number of sympathetic upgrades which make it considerably more enjoyable and practical to drive with modern traffic. A fully reconditioned 650cc engine has been fitted in place of the original 499cc unit, providing noticeably improved performance, while a synchromesh gearbox has also been installed. This makes changing gear much easier and eliminates the need for double declutching, whilst still retaining the character and charm of the original Fiat 500.
The exterior is finished in Avorio Antico, complemented by a beautifully presented black interior with ivory piping. The overall presentation of the car is excellent and it remains true to the appearance and character of the original 500.
The history of the car is particularly interesting. It was originally built in Italy and ordered by an Englishman who was residing there at the time. The original Italian registration documentation is still retained within the extensive history file. For reasons unknown, the original owner never collected the car and it remained in Italy until making its way to England in 1992, when it was registered in the UK.
The Fiat was used regularly until the mid 2000s before undergoing its full restoration in 2012.
There is an exceptional amount of documentation accompanying the car. Restoration bills and parts invoices total in excess of £20, 000 and are all carefully preserved in an extensive five inch history folder. The folder also contains numerous photographs documenting the restoration, providing an excellent record of the work carried out.
Although the car has been sympathetically upgraded for improved drivability, it retains its originality, character and unmistakable Fiat 500 appearance.
It has also enjoyed some interesting history since restoration, having appeared on various television programmes and been used for publicity and photographic shoots.
Recent photographs have been taken specifically for this advert and accurately represent the car as it stands today. The additional photographs included in the history file are from the original restoration.
Finding a genuine right hand drive Fiat 500F with such an extensive restoration history, substantial supporting documentation and sensible mechanical upgrades is increasingly difficult.
A very special little Fiat, ideal for the enthusiast, collector or anyone looking for a beautifully restored classic that can be enjoyed on the road rather than simply kept in a collection.
