Description
1998 Saab 9-3 2. 0 naturally aspirated automatic convertible. Mechanically solid and usable car that drives well, but it needs cosmetic attention and roof work, making it an ideal rolling project or honest runabout for a Saab enthusiast or DIY mechanic.
The core running gear is well sorted: it has fresh brakes with new discs and pads, good tyres all around, and the power steering has been sorted. The 2. 0 naturally aspirated engine starts easily, runs smoothly, and the automatic gearbox changes gear as it should.
The main thing to note is that the convertible roof is currently not operating at all and is stuck up; it won't manually release either. A previous owner clearly tried to investigate or force it, so some of the interior boot trim is damaged and pulled about as a result. The rest of the car shows honest cosmetic wear, with age-related marks, blemishes on the paintwork, and general interior wear. It is definitely not a showroom car, but the essential mechanical running gear is solid and ready to drive away. Also the anti rattle clip on the rear driver side break has broken so it rattles it broke when i replaced the pads and discs so that ill need replacing i haven't got around to it. also the ac needs attention
Priced realistically to reflect the roof and cosmetic work needed. Viewings and inspections are very welcome
I bought this car because it was affordable, practical, and dependable transport when I needed to get moving. What makes it stand out is just how solid, comfortable, and unfussy these late-90s Saabs are as daily runners—it starts every time, eats up miles comfortably, and drives really well. It is an honest, accessible modern classic that does the basics right, offering plenty of character for someone who likes saabs
