Description
1986 D591 LKJ Suzuki SJ413 (Restomod)
History -
I bought the above car circa 2016 in overall good condition having looked around for a good original unrestored example.
I wanted to enhance the original car by making some subtle changes for use as a show car. In my ownership it has never been driven off road however it still retains the 4x4 system and only ever driven on dry roads.
Garaged when not in use and fitted with a trickle charger and comes with a fitted Suzuki SJ breathable car cover.
In 2021 the car was subject to a professional restoration with the following but no exhaustive list of items completed.
Body work-
The body work was completely stripped glass, interior, lights out and so on. The doors, tailgate and bonnet were removed together with the front and rear wings and inner wheel arch tubs front and rear and replaced with new ones. The bumpers front and rear were removed and replaced with new ones with all steel custom fabrication work as seen in photo's. New aggressive front grill and side rails fitted. Gas struts fitted to bonnet replacing the bonnet stay. Interior floor and wheel arch tub's coated in colour coded raptor protection paint.
The Underside -
The underside was checked/ cleaned and any areas professionally repaired. The frame remains in solid original condition with no repairs. The underside was completely treated and once the car was painted it was subject to wax oil in the doors, tailgate, inner wheel arches. The underside was fitted with red poly bush body mounts front to rear, Shock absorbers, petrol tank guard, the whole of the braking system was replaced namely fuel lines, hoses, caliper's, vented front discs, rear drums and shoes and brake master cylinder and booster so on front to back. Professional custom made stainless steel exhaust system.
Purchase of custom fitted alloy wheels with no wheels spacers very good tyres that still retain lots of tyre tread.
Engine and engine bay-
The engine was perfectly fine however I wanted a little more HP so the engine was completely stripped and machined and fitted with a road race cam 272, oversized flat top pistons, lightened flywheel, Doug-Thorley exhaust manifold (USA) and duel 40 weber carb's together with a very rare inlet manifold sourced from (Australia). Approximately 5000 miles since rebuild. High performance HT leads, Iridium spark plugs, MSD Ignition coil, fuel pump, oil pump, washer bottle, radiator and bottle, blue silicon hoses, rag joint eliminator, full steering linkages relaced, reconditioned steering pump, distributor professionally modified, water pump, alternator, pitman arm, engine mounts, sway bar bush kit, clutch and clutch cable, speedo cable, battery tie down clamp kit most items purchased from the USA and the list goes on.
Exterior-
The exterior was de-seamed for a sleeker look and widened wheel arches fitted to compensate for wider wheels, steel fabrication and fitting of race fuel filler cap, front and rear bumpers with steel fabrication custom design. Front led halo headlights and front led spot lights and rear led custom fit rear lights and honey combe rear number plate which is back lit as seen on TVR's. Pair of tube doors fitted with door mirrors and fitting kit provided for the summer months and easy to swap over takes me ten minutes together with door stand.
Hood scoop and vents fitted in the bonnet, Side rails welded to give the car a wider stance.
Rear deck cover, bikini roof cover and full soft top.
Upgraded green tinted laminated front windscreen and all weather strips, window channels and rubbers entirely replaced.
Interior-
The interior has orange carpet set with matching orange seat belts fully professionally reconditioned with new belt fastenings, flip front DVD stereo system with hands free calling and upgraded arial together with amp and sub mounted in the rear of the car behind the bench seat. Leather front seats and Corbeau bench seat with Low Range off road bench seat bracket from the USA. Interior led mood lighting and centre arm rest console. Sun-visors, handbrake, gear stick gaiters replaced including pedal rubbers and sound deadening added to the floor. Shifter fixing kit, white face dash dial gauge overlays, radio tray, six speaker system, OMP roll bar cushions, racing steering boss and Alcantara steering wheel
In Lamborghini Arancio Borealis Orange with gold dust paint work (I have some paint in tins left over from the paint shop)
There are many other things that are not listed however I do have a more comprehensive file list and receipts and photographs which will come with the car.

I bought this car as I drove one on Holiday abroad as a hire car and had to own one as it was so much fun to drive.
I eventually found a good solid example and drove it for a few years and then decided I wanted to restore it and make it stand out from the crowd. Once restored and completed I have taken it to car shows and the response from the public was utterly amazing. Even just driving it around, I often get a wave and a thumbs up from the public which is nice and given the crowd pleasing attention I get it is a clear testament of how different the car is and how good it looks. In my opinion this is how the SJ413 should have looked when it rolled of the production line back in 1986.
