1969 Airstream Ambassador 29ft - project
Up for sale is my 1969 Airstream Ambassador, 29ft, twin axle. Built at the Jackson Center, Ohio factory and fitted with the "International" package from new, so it was fully self-contained with 110v/ 12v electrics when it left the line. Serial number checks out on the data plate as 129T9J321.
As far as I can tell it made its way over from Ontario, Canada at some point - it's still got the old Canadian trailer plate on the back .
The interior is completely original, nobody's ever gutted it or done a modern remodel, which is honestly pretty rare to find at this age. Most of the surviving ones from this era have already been stripped out and turned into food and beverage vans.
Twin bed layout in the bedroom, plus the dinette folds down, so you're looking at roughly 4 berths (not an official UK rating, just going by the layout).

It needs a proper restoration, not a quick tidy up. There's a window missing in the bedroom - the frame's out but I've taped some insulation over the gap so it's not open to the weather, and the original trim is still there to go with it. There's some water staining on the sofa and a cabinet near the bathroom. A couple of old patch repairs here and there (ceiling vent, bathroom cabinet). The fridge, hob and hitch have some surface rust. There's a dent in the lower skin near the front, you can see it in the photos.
I haven't had it weighed so I can't give you exact MTPLM/ MIRO figures - but a quick google search says:
Factory Dry Weight (MIRO Baseline): ~4, 800 lbs (approx. 2, 177 kg)
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (MTPLM Max): 7, 100 lbs (approx. 3, 220 kg)
Estimated Payload Capacity: ~2, 300 lbs (approx. 1, 043 kg)
What you're getting is a genuinely original 1969 Ambassador with all its factory details intact - the original control panel, cabinetry, the lot - so whoever takes this on has a proper blank canvas rather than having to undo somebody else's work first. I'd have loved to have done the restoration myself, but i've found something else that suits my needs a bit more.

I picked this up as a restoration project, fully intending to bring it back to life myself. Since then I've found another project that suits me better, and realistically I can't run two at once - something's got to give, and I need the space more than I need a second trailer sat there.
It's genuinely a lovely thing to have around, even in its current state - there's something about the shape and the era that just gets people talking. It's only actually been used once since I've had it, towed down to Glastonbury, which felt like exactly the kind of adventure it was built for. Beyond that it's mostly just sat here waiting for someone with the time to give it the attention it deserves.
I'd love to see it go to someone who'll actually get stuck into the restoration rather than let it sit idle like I have - it deserves better than gathering dust and rust!
