A very special example of the first-generation Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG, presented in what is undoubtedly one of the most unusual and desirable colour combinations for the W210 – Amazonite Green Metallic.
This is not simply another E55 AMG.
The colour alone makes this car particularly interesting. Amazonite Green Metallic (272U) was an extremely uncommon factory colour on AMG cars of this era, and examples in this specification are exceptionally difficult to find today. A search of the current UK market suggests that this may be the only surviving UK example currently offered/ known online in this colour, although naturally it is impossible to account for cars that are off the road, SORN or sitting in private collections.
The car has been part of my private collection since 2013, having been acquired as a car to preserve and enjoy rather than use as daily transport.
This is a car was meant to be kept, however, storage facility means i have to now let it go.

THE CAR
The W210 E55 AMG represents a fascinating period in AMG history – before AMG became fully integrated into the Mercedes-Benz production line-up.
This is the first-generation W210 E55 AMG, powered by AMG's naturally aspirated 5. 4-litre V8 and coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.
The 210. 074 E55 AMG uses the M113. 980 5. 4-litre V8, producing approximately 354 bhp (260 kW) and around 391 lb-ft of torque, giving the car the effortless performance and soundtrack for which these early AMG cars have become increasingly appreciated.

The E55 AMG's 5. 4-litre M113 V8 and 5-speed automatic configuration are confirmed for the 210. 074 model. Contemporary and specialist references also identify the 210. 074 as the W210 E55 AMG specification.
THE COLOUR – AMAZONITE GREEN METALLIC
Perhaps the biggest talking point of this particular car.
Amazonite Green Metallic – 272U
A deep, sophisticated metallic green which changes considerably depending on the light. It is a colour that suits the W210 exceptionally well and gives the car a very different character from the far more commonly seen silver, black and blue examples.
Amazonite Green Metallic was used on other AMG W210 cars, but surviving examples are extremely scarce. A documented E55 AMG in this colour is itself an unusual find today.

The intention has never been to put unnecessary mileage on it or use it as an everyday vehicle. It has remained within a private collection for many years and is now being offered to another enthusiast who appreciates the significance of these early AMG cars.
WHY THE W210 E55 AMG?
The W210 E55 sits at an important point in Mercedes-Benz and AMG history.
The 5. 4-litre naturally aspirated V8 provides a very different experience from the later supercharged E55s. It is understated, analogue and unmistakably from the era when AMG performance cars could still look relatively discreet while hiding a serious performance car underneath.
With its 5. 4-litre V8, rear-wheel drive, five-speed automatic transmission and unmistakable AMG character, the early E55 has developed a strong following among Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts.
And finding one in Amazonite Green Metallic is considerably harder than finding an ordinary example.
