Description
So I have had the pleasure of putting this lovely machine back on the road. The carburettors were all gummed up and have been completely reconditioned and tuned up . Rubbers and seals are what suffered the most during this 30-year period of inactivity. Fuel lines were also replaced. The original hardly used Metzelers which had turned into bakelite were replaced with a set of Michelins. Seals on each side of the clutch and the clutch plate as well as the starter were also renewed.
The BMW has had a complete service and a brand new battery has been fitted and the carburettors have been balanced. It now is 200 miles older has been MOTd this summer and is ready to take the road. Brand new period panniers are included.
I bought this motorbike last year. I am the second owner. It comes with a full service history, which is relatively sparse given the age of the vehicle. It had 714 verified miles on the clock when I met the first owner in December 2025. Through a series of unfortunate circumstances, the R100R had been sitting unused in his garage for most of its life. The last MOT dated back to 2013. In essence, this boxer was as close to brand new as I would ever get, but needed some TLC.
I sold my last motorbike in 1983. A R90S. This for me was an opportunity for my bucket list.
