I bought this Boxster because I was looking specifically for a very low-mileage, highly original 986 with a fully traceable history. It had been parked-up in my neighbours garage for a while and I kept trying to buy it off of him, until he finally caved.
What attracted me to this particular car was how unusually well preserved and complete it was – not just the condition, but all the small details that are so often missing after 26 years.
It has now covered just 55, 300 km, with its mileage supported by a continuous inspection history going back to 2004 (1st yearly required date).
It has always been garaged, has a complete Porsche specialist maintenance history and retains its original manuals in the Porsche leather wallet, original radio, floor mats, complete toolkit, spare wheel, jack and even the original Porsche hood cover.
There are also no recorded accident or insurance claims.
What I particularly like about the car is that it still feels remarkably close to how an early Boxster should feel. The 2. 7-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, manual gearbox, compact dimensions and relatively low weight make it wonderfully analogue and engaging to drive, without needing to drive particularly fast to enjoy it.
I have been careful to preserve rather than modify it, and everything works as it should. The interior, hood, bodywork and mechanical condition all reflect the very low mileage and the care the car has received throughout its life.
For me, what makes this Boxster stand out is the combination of very low documented mileage, condition, originality and completeness.
There are plenty of 986s available, but finding one with this mileage and history, still retaining so many of its original details, is becoming increasingly difficult.
It is a car I have genuinely enjoyed owning, and I believe its condition and provenance make it a particularly interesting example for someone looking for a 986 to enjoy while continuing to preserve it for the future.
I've certified it with ACP (Portuguese Automotive Club) as an historic yourtimer, a certification given only for very original examples of each model and this is valir until 2030.
