Description

1997 Mercedes-Benz CL600 V12 (C140)

Aquamarine Blue | Champignon Leather | Original Elantin Alloys | UK-Supplied

History and ownership

I’m selling my 1997 Mercedes-Benz CL600, finished in the lovely and quite unusual Aquamarine Blue (341) with contrasting Champignon leather interior.

It’s a genuine UK-supplied example, currently showing approximately 120, 000 miles, with documented service history including 14 service stamps recorded in its previous auction listing.

I’ve really enjoyed owning the car and have spent time and money attending to various items during my ownership. It’s predominantly been used as a weekend car, particularly when the weather is nice, rather than as a daily driver.

Some of the more recent work includes:

* New radiator and cooling fans.
* Replacement cooling system hoses.
* New expansion tank and cap.
* Replacement mass airflow sensor.
* Front parking sensors repaired and working.
* Passenger-side automatic seatbelt presenter repaired and working.
* Full service carried out in July 2026.

The car also passed its last MOT in July 2026 with no advisories, at which point I had it fully serviced as well.

Exterior condition

The Aquamarine Blue was one of the things that attracted me to the car in the first place. It’s a really lovely colour, particularly in the sunlight, and makes a nice change from the more commonly seen silver and black examples.

It still wears its original Mercedes-Benz Elantin alloy wheels, which I think suit the car perfectly.

Overall, it presents well for its age, although it’s worth remembering this is a car approaching 30 years old, so there are some age-related marks and imperfections.

One of my favourite things about the C140 is the pillarless design. With all four windows down, it really is a fantastic-looking car.

Interior condition

The Champignon leather works really well against the exterior colour and gives the cabin that proper old-school Mercedes feel.

It’s a lovely, comfortable interior, especially on longer journeys, and you can really appreciate how much effort Mercedes put into these cars when they were new.

I’ve also recently had the passenger-side automatic seatbelt presenter repaired, which is now working as it should.

As with the exterior, there is some general age-related wear and a few smaller items that could benefit from attention, but nothing I’m looking to hide from a prospective buyer.

Mechanical condition

The car has the naturally aspirated 6. 0-litre M120 V12 engine, paired with an automatic gearbox.

I’ve had quite a bit of work carried out on the cooling system during my ownership, including a replacement radiator, fans, hoses, expansion tank and cap. A replacement mass airflow sensor has also been fitted.

The front parking sensors have recently been repaired and are now operational.

The car was fully serviced alongside its July 2026 MOT, which it passed with no advisories.

I don’t want to describe it as a perfect example, because it isn’t, and I think anyone buying a classic Mercedes of this age should expect the occasional job along the way.

I’m happy to discuss the work that’s been completed and anything that still needs attention with genuinely interested buyers.

Final thoughts

I’ve really enjoyed having this car. There’s something quite special about the old Mercedes V12s, and the C140 has a presence that I don’t think many modern cars can match.

It’s incredibly comfortable, feels properly substantial and always gets attention when I take it out, particularly because of the colour.

You don’t see many CL600s advertised in the UK these days, and I think the Aquamarine Blue, light leather and original Elantin wheels make this a particularly nice combination.

The only reason for selling is that I’m currently in the process of selling my home and would prefer to release the funds rather than keep the car. Otherwise, it’s something I’d have been quite happy to hold on to.

Private registration: I also have M600 CLX on retention, which previously came with the vehicle. It’s a great matching registration for the CL600, and I’d be happy to sell this alongside the car by separate negotiation if the new owner is interested.

I’m happy to answer any questions, provide additional photographs or arrange a viewing for anyone genuinely interested.

Thanks for looking.
