This beautifully restored Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 will turn heads. This 1981, soft top, right-hand-drive model is a very rare find in the UK. The car has had full frame-off, collector grade restoration using New Old Stock. It has the original engine and chassis and is in pristine condition, ready for car shows and scenic drives. Restoration has been done by a passionate car enthusiast and his team with deep expertise. The car has recently been imported and is now registered and taxed in the UK (zero tax).
The car was originally imported from Japan to Pakistan in 1981 and registered with the Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Karachi. It was auctioned off by the government in 2020 and has had only 3 private owners since. The second private owner has completed the restoration to original. I bought the car in May 2026 and imported it to the UK.

Stepping into this car feels like stepping back into history. Nostalgic! I love the engineering in this car: practical, sturdy, ready to spend another few happy decades on the roads. The wind-down window panels, pull out knobs, manual gears, metal glove compartment, beautifully crafted bonnet latches, and a little red light telling me when the ignition is ready - these make you fall in love with this stunning car. It is Japanese engineering and reliability at its best. This car will definitely turn heads at classic car shows and would be a great addition to the collection of a discerning buyer.
This is a lovingly restored car, using New Old Stock to take it back to its original glory. Each and every latch and clip has been stripped and re-painted. The chassis has been fully restored and is completely rust free. The original engine has also had a full restoration, down to fixing each wire and filter. The original seats have been upholstered. The buyer will be delighted to see the full photographic detail of each step of the restoration process.
The full provenance of this car is available. I even have a set of fragile yellowing papers with signatures and stamps for the original sale from the car dealer (National Motors) to the Pakistan Scientific and Industrial Research Council, the first owner of the car for nearly 40 years! I have the full sale history which will make for interesting reading. In addition, the team that has undertaken the restoration have shared the full photo and video collection of the restoration process itself. This will be handed over to the buyer and will make a great conversation topic.
