Description
Mercedes-Benz 250/ 8 (W114), first registered 12 April 1968, manual gearbox with column shift. Complete vehicle for sale in Heilbronn, Germany. Asking price: EUR 7, 000, negotiable.
IMPORTANT: NOT ROADWORTHY – STRUCTURAL CORROSION
Dry-ice blasting revealed substantial corrosion in structural body members. A damaged section of a longitudinal chassis/ body rail was physically cut out for investigation and has not been reinstated. Photographs show the cut lines and the open rail section. Steering and brakes are inoperative due to dismantling.
Odometer reading: approximately 6, 500 km. Actual total mileage is unknown.
MECHANICAL HISTORY
– Engine rebuilt in 2020; approximately 6, 500 km driven SINCE the rebuild. This is not the total vehicle mileage, which is unverified.
– Both carburettors overhauled.
– Clutch disc and clutch slave cylinder replaced.
– Electronic/ contactless ignition fitted.
– Shock absorbers also replaced.
Invoices for the major work are available; the shock absorber replacement is an owner statement.
The car ran well until its final journey to Mercedes-Benz in late 2022. It was taken off the road in early 2023 and has been stored in a dry garage since then. There has been no engine start since the fuel tank was removed, although the engine can still be turned. Its current operation under running conditions has not been tested.
BODY, INTERIOR AND INCLUDED PARTS
In my assessment the exterior panels are largely in good condition and the interior is very well preserved, with a Becker Europa radio. The structural corrosion described above remains unrepaired.
Removed items include the rail section, exhaust system, fuel tank, steering box and battery. All of these except the battery are present and included.
DOCUMENTS AND COLLECTION
German registration documents and historic-vehicle assessment available. Deregistered, with no valid German roadworthiness inspection. The vehicle can roll and be transported on a trailer. Appropriate loading equipment and arrangements are essential because steering and brakes are inoperative. No test drive possible.
PHOTOGRAPHS
The exterior photograph was taken BEFORE dismantling and does not show the current assembled condition. The open rail section and engine bay are shown separately. A German-language brochure, invoices and further detailed photographs are available on request.
Sale as a complete vehicle. Inspection in Heilbronn by appointment. Please contact me with your purchase offer and indicate whether you can arrange collection.
