Description
Purchased by me in late January 2026 from RPM Specialist Cars, Knaresborough. They have known the car since 2018 having exclusively serviced it since and sold it to the last 3 owners (one of which is a friend of a friend, so I knew of the car). I bought it on the strength of the impeccable mechanical maintenance & care it had received over the years. It was initially my 2nd car but has been my ‘daily’ over the summer. I change my cars often, so it’s not unusual for me to keep a car for under 12 months. The way I see it, there are so many good cars I want to own!
Overall, the car is in excellent condition as the photos show. You will find some stone chips (most have been touched up) but nothing you wouldn’t expect of a 16 yr old car with 70k+ miles.
Exterior – Finished in Arctic Silver the paintwork is bright and benefitted from a machine polish in Jan 2026. The wheels are immaculate free of kerbing/ scuffs and were ceramic coated from new, which is believable when you see how clean the wheel barrels are. I’ve also replaced all wheel bolts - present as nice and shiny. You may notice the wheels are not the original wheels for this car, they are the optional ‘winter’ wheel set for a Cayman 718. The sizes are all but identical to the original wheels – only a 4mm difference in offset on the rears compensated for by 5mm spacers so they sit exactly as ‘standard’ in the arches. I do have the original wheels which are immaculate & can be included subject to negotiation. The wheels are wrapped in matching Bridgestone Potenza N-rated tyres all round. Zunsport grilles also fitted in the front bumper as all-important protection for the air con radiators.
Interior – Again, excellent condition with almost no signs of wear. All touch points are in good condition and free of wear or stickiness that can affect buttons from this era. The black leather extends to the dash and door cards with the only sign of wear being on the driver’s seat bolster. That said, the wear is minimal & less than you’d might expect of a 16 yr old car - no tears or rips. The head unit is an Apple Car Play/ Android Auto compatible Pioneer unit. I don’t have the original Porsche PCM unit.
Engine/ Maintenance – I have a folder full of invoices and history dating back to 2013 which shows the level of upkeep the car has enjoyed. There are numerous invoices for works/ preventative maintenance – too much to list here but happy to discuss where there is serious interest. The MOT history is almost blemish free. The only advisories have been for a couple of perished tyres and more recently brake discs and pads – replaced prior to my ownership as part of the sales prep giving an advisory free MOT in Jan 2026.

The 987. 2 Cayman 2. 9 is the sweetspot in modern classic Porsche motoring. Plenty of power, relatively economical (i've seen 38mpg on a journey before) and free of any of the issues that can affect other porsche engines. And manual cars are the one to go for too.
