Description
Lovely metallic Bay Grey Smart Forfour Pulse with the rare Titanium Metallic Tridion, rare full glass opening sunroof, rare five-seat option and a large amount of history with just two previous owners from new.
This is the high-power (red 'i') cdi option with 95bhp and 155lb ft of torque, giving effortless performance while returning 55-60mpg. The three-cylinder Mercedes diesel engine is capable of huge mileages, so the 121k recorded is a drop in the ocean - this lovely car is ready for many thousands more.
Over 20 years old now and beginning to be appreciated by the discerning as a worthy modern classic, the first generation Smart Forfour was a clever attempt to broaden the Smart brand from just the two-seat Fortwo.
Mercedes joined forces with Mitsubishi on the project, sharing the Mitsubishi Colt floorpan and Mitsubishi petrol or Mercedes diesel engines, with unique bodies and interiors.
The Smart's snappy looks included removable plastic panels (front and rear ends and doorskins) hung on a super-strong steel 'tridion' core. The clever and high-spec interior included double-folding rear seats to give huge boot space if the seats were not in use, plus the ability to slide the rear seat back - and recline it - to give limousine space and comfort in the rear. A 3-person rear seat was a rarely-specified optional extra, making this in fact a Forfive, though they were never badged as such!
The fully-opening electric glass sunroof is another desirable option on this example - there were so many options on Forfours that almost no two are the same.
Forfours sold in relatively small numbers because their high spec resulted in prices more in line with larger hatchbacks - people failed to appreciate what they were missing in spec. Now, they are a discerning choice and an attractive modern classic buy, at rock bottom prices.
This Forfour spent almost all its life in Lincoln, the first owner driving it from 2005 to 2016, and the second lady owner from 2016 until recently.
Fully serviced (good for 14k miles) and MoT'd until 26 Sept 2027, it's now ready for a new life with its third owner.
