Elegant, the Lancia Fulvia has always been seductive, but Zagato wanted to give it a sportier dimension to enhance its appeal. At the time, several companies were offering new versions of their models. That's why in the 60s there were so many different series. Ercole Spada, an Italian designer, succeeded in bringing this about at Zagato.
To make the car lighter, the body was originally made of aluminium. But this did not last long. Because aluminium was so expensive, steel made a comeback on the bodywork. Only the doors and bonnet remained in aluminium, but that too for a limited time. The latest Lancia Fulvia Zagato models are 100% steel for economic reasons.
