Description
For some purists, the '58-'60 Beetles were the last true 'classic' Volkswagens. By the '61 model, elements such as the arrows, the 30 hp 'moulded foot' engine and the partition behind the spare wheel, identical to that on the splits, had disappeared. Three years had passed between the time the ovals ceased to be produced and the time the Beetles destined for the European market were fitted with indicators on the front wings. Little by little, the Beetle evolved and finally entered the modern era with the '61 model. In the end, not much separated the Coxes of those three years, which were in fact only transition models (humf.... "Transitional model', my Cox, what's not to like?) between the last Ovals and the first 'modern' Volkswagens. Indeed, from 1 August 1960, the little VW lost its "moulded foot" engine and its old two-case gearbox with non-synchronous first gear, its arrows, its bulging tank, its "split style" front sheet metal, two stamped front apron reinforcements, its "old style" rear apron and its manual choke (which many of us will miss...) to name only the most important modifications!
NYCS/ OXOTO offers this beautiful 1958 VW Cox for sale. The vehicle is in very good general condition. Some bodywork details to be reviewed (see photos). It is perfectly up to date mechanically (see recent costs) More information on request Vehicle visible by appointment only.
