FORD THUNDERBIRD SC SUPERCHARGED COUPE OF 1989
The Thunderbird – Ford’s legendary car since 1955 – in this generation was equipped for its top-spec, the “SC” for Supercharged Coupe, with the excellent 3. 8L V6 with Eaton supercharger developing a very respectable 210 hp. A smooth, responsive, and economical engine at once. It was meant to rival the BMW 6 Series of the era, notably the famous 635CSi.
Being everything to please, it’s no surprise it was crowned Car of the Year 1989 Stateside!
The example we are offering here has a particularly interesting pedigree and history. Indeed, the car was delivered new to Aston Martin Lagonda of Tickford Street, Newport Pagnell in September 1989, then in the hands of Ford, to assist in the development of the future DB7 i6 and Vantage V550, notably thanks to its Eaton supercharger which directly inspired Aston Martin for its future models, quite something!
The car was delivered with an impressive array of options including power steering, air conditioning, electric windows and seats, leather upholstery, front tinted glass and rear privacy glass, electric aerial, etc.
Unlike most “development cars” used by Aston Martin, this one was not scrapped after factory use between 1989 and 1991 but enjoyed peaceful days on the roads of Perfidious Albion in the hands of discerning and careful owners.
Aston Martin’s history can be verified thanks to an old registration document in their name, the maintenance log duly stamped “Aston Martin Work Service” but also by an official letter written by the AML group historian on headed paper. Certainly a collector’s item, not least because it is extremely rare in metropolitan France, a beautiful way to enjoy the vehicle’s exclusive character while being invited to many motoring events for the interest this exemplar will generate.
The vehicle runs particularly well with its overdrive automatic gearbox and a lively engine, and remains in very good overall condition, ready to hit the road for new adventures.

The car is supplied with its English registration document and its British MOT certificate, pristine and with no remarks, valid until September 2026.
