The Atelier des 1000 is delighted to offer for sale this very rare SAAB 99 EMS, in an iconic configuration with its metallic silver finish paired with a green livery inspired by the Spa loop-winning model from 1976, completed by its brown and beige leather and fabric interior.
Icon of Swedish competition from the 1970s, the SAAB 99 EMS (Electronic Manual Special) was the first SAAB fitted with electronic fuel injection, developing 118 hp thanks to its robust and capable 2. 0-litre engine.
Designed exclusively in a two-door version, it stood out for its reinforced suspension, metallic silver paint and clear sporting temperament.
It shone in rallying, notably in the hands of Stig Blomqvist and Per Eklund, on asphalt as well as on snow.
The example we present here, registered on 1 April 1976, is of French origin and has been second‑hand since 2013.
This replica of Stig Blomqvist’s famous grey and green EMS has been faithfully created with care by its current owner, offering a visually very faithful rendition. The car has already taken part in the Tour of Normandy. It could be eligible for numerous historic rallies.
The stickers fitted can of course be removed on request to restore the car’s original appearance.
With only 52, 500 km recorded, it comes with a service book stamped up to 40, 000 km as well as a file of invoices.
Recent maintenance attests to careful upkeep, with more than €4, 500 in invoices over the last few years, including notably:
- Complete overhaul of the brake calipers by a specialist
- Replacement of discs and brake pads
- Complete stainless steel exhaust system
- Replacement of the clutch slave cylinder
- Replacement of all four shock absorbers with Bilstein B6
Mechanically, the 2. 0 L injection starts at the turn of the key and delivers crisp revs, aided by the stainless steel exhaust note.
The four-speed manual gearbox is precise and pleasant to use, and the clutch performs its job perfectly with no signs of wear.
The running gear shows no abnormal play and the Bilstein B6 suspension provides driving precision.
The power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes are strong and enduring.
The original Soccerball wheels look excellent and are shod with Goodyear tyres in very good condition.
The metallic silver paint, accentuated by the green badges and the replica sponsors, presents a superb shine.
The body is sound and the undersides are free from corrosion.
The interior, in beige and brown, is in excellent condition. The rare sports steering wheel and the original trim reinforce the exclusive character of this model.
A spare key set is included, along with its rare period documentation.
Given the overall condition and the exclusivity of this model, we are asking €19, 990.
