Rare Mercedes 450 SL (type W107) with full history – 1 year warranty
We offer you a superb 450 SL in its rare original colour China Blue, paired with a beige interior and a recent dark-blue soft top.
One of the major assets of this example is its pristine history: only two owners since 1980 — the first from 1980 to 2013, the second from 2013 to today.
The history is complete, with all service invoices as well as the original service books. The mileage of 132, 500 miles (212, 000 km) can therefore be certified and remains fairly low for a 45-year-old car.
A substantial overhaul has just been carried out by a specialist (invoice €5, 200), including notably:
• Engine and transmission oil change with filter replacements
• Replacement of the two flex discs
• Timing chain replacement
• Replacement of the fuel pump, the right and left valve cover gaskets, the gearbox pickup screen, the steering rods, engine, gearbox and front suspension bushings, and brake hoses
• Full geometry alignment
• Etc.
The bodywork is sound and free from corrosion. The paint is original and the car has never been repainted, which is particularly rare for an 80s car and shows the care its two owners have given it.
For aesthetic reasons, the North American bumpers have been replaced with European models.
By the late 80s, the 450 SL represented the flagship of the SL range, and 92% of the models were sold in North America.
Today, thanks to its timeless line, it remains a very desirable and enjoyable car to drive, notably thanks to its power steering and automatic transmission.
Not a sports car, the 450 SL is perfectly usable for long distances. One enjoys hair-raising open-road driving on sunny days as much as using the hard-top in winter.
The SLs still offer excellent value for money and great mechanical reliability.
