Going, Going, Gone! Ep 3 – Car & Classic Auctions
We sell a lot of cars here on Car & Classic Auctions, which is great. It means we can keep the lights on, it means you good people have a constant stream of tantalising machinery to bid on and it also, it seems, gives us an excuse to make videos in which we can talk about some of our favourite sold lots. Well, we say ‘we’. What we mean is our Head of Editorial, Chris Pollitt, and long-time friend of Car & Classic and builder of the world’s most amazing Mini, Richard Brunning of Bad Obsession Motorsport. We’re three episodes in now, and you guys seem to love it.
The thing with content around auction cars – in a broad, online sense – is that it’s always tempting to try and generate content on a car that’s currently for sale. That’s all well and good, but when the car sells, the content is sort of… dead. So instead, we thought a bit of a vodcast talking about cars that have sold, that we have fallen a bit in love with, would be a nice way to go. And given the feedback, it seems you all agree. We here at Car & Classic Auctions are enthusiasts too, and we like talking about all the wonderful and different cars out there, and you’re enthusiasts too, so we wanted to encourage you to get involved in the conversation via the comments section.
This mighty Ford Sierra XR8 was one of Pollitt’s picks in the latest episode.
And if you enjoy the above video, don’t forget to check out EPISODE 1 and of course, EPISODE 2. We’ve covered everything from executive saloons, scale versions of iconic racers, tractors, trucks, motorbikes, you name it. If it has an engine, we love it. There’s no bias, and our two hosts don’t always agree, but that’s the beauty of the classic car world. There is so much exciting, interesting, and happily divisive stuff out there. And we want to share these discoveries with you.
Brunning went fully traditional with one of his recent choices in the form of this MGB Roadster.
And don’t think this series is all about the hard sell. It’s not. It can’t be. The cars featured have already found loving homes. Instead, this is meant to be fun, a bit of petrol-fuelled entertainment. The kind of thing you can watch with a brew and biscuit and enjoy. And is that not the sort of content what we need right now? Just some unashamedly indulgent immersion in what makes us all happy? Exactly.
Some of the eclectic choices featured in the current episode, each plucked from Car & Classic Auctions
So, there you have it, our newest series, Going, Going, Gone! Made not for selling cars, but made to celebrate them, to talk about them, and to remind ourselves why we love them so much. We have a huge amount of fun making these episodes, and we hope you enjoy watching them. And who knows, if you do buy a car from Car & Classic Auctions, you might well find us lusting over it in a future episode! Until then, browse, watch, enjoy.
