The Plus
This is an incredibly rare piece, and not something you're likely to see again. The story goes that in 1910, Émile Mathis, a Strasbourg businessman, decided to create his own brand of car after working briefly for Lorraine-Dietrich, with Ettore Bugatti. During his time there, he discovered the merits of the small four-cylinder engine; and with a little clever engineering, he created a series of exceptional little cars that quietly set a standard in the fledgling motor industry.
The TY was a particularly eccentric - dare we say cute - machine introduced in 1931. It was a small economy car with coupé and cabriolet options, featuring warm and comfortable interiors and a 4-cylinder side-engine, so compact for its time that it was often colloquially dubbed the 'Baby'. In many ways, therefore, Mathis was a pioneer of compact motoring, well ahead of its time.
This particular example is one of the few to have survived, with a very authentic interior and distinctive bodywork offering a first-class classic. You're unlikely to see another, and if you're looking for a unique vintage car, we're convinced this is a perfect choice.
