The Appeal

As the Second World War drew to a close, Triumph was acquired by Sir John Black's Standard Motor Company as he wanted to build a sports car that would take on Jaguar - the fellow Coventry-based firm to whom Black had supplied engines before the war. What they came up with was the Triumph Roadster - a car that would avoid steel shortages with its aluminium bodywork, formed using the rubber press tools Standard had developed for building the wooden Mosquito fighter-bomber during recent years.

This 1949 Triumph 2000 Roadster was restored around ten years ago and enhanced with the fitment of a TR4 engine and gearbox. This affords it with additional performance and reliability, enhancing the car's usability and in doing so, making it the perfect candidate for long European road trips.
