The bold pastel colours and gleaming chrome belong to a bygone era and make this Thunderbird stand out from almost everything else on the road. It's unusual to find a model that hasn't been extensively modified, leaving many of the charming details of the era intact, such as the original chrome wheel trims and the Ford Magic Air system. All in very good, usable condition, with no significant wear or damage to report.
The Mechanics
5.8-litre FE-series V8 engine originally producing 300 bhp
Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission
Drives smoothly and reliably according to the seller
This Thunderbird didn't just look the part, it also had the latest high-performance technology. At a time when most European motorists had dusty four-cylinder engines producing little more than 50bhp, this Ford boasted 300bhp from its 5.8-litre V8 and ultra-smooth three-speed automatic gearbox. Everything is beautifully presented under the bonnet of this example and the seller assures us that it is in very good working order.
