The Appeal
Often cited as one of the most elegant spiders of all time, along with such splendid cars as the Mercedes-Benz W113 SL 'Pagoda' and the Lancia B24 Aurelia Spider, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider Serie 101 offered style and performance of the highest order. Once frequently spotted on the roads of the Riviera and starring in great films such as 'The Day of the Jackal', it is the epitome of the 'Dolce Vita' of the 1960s and remains a much-loved classic to this day.
This example from the first series, with its attractive 'Bianco Spino' paintwork, has been carefully restored and maintained. The seller has put it to good use, participating in long-distance races such as the Tour Du Péloponnèse. It holds a CRS (Certificate of Historical Significance) certificate and the booklet shows the car's first registration in Italy. The seller informs us that it will be delivered with a valid overhaul, which means that this delightful classic Alfa will be ready to be enjoyed.

A new soft top has been fitted and the seller demonstrates that it works properly.
The Mechanics
- 1.6-litre four-cylinder twin-shaft North engine
- Five-speed manual gearbox
- We have been told that the engine and transmission are in perfect working order, used for long trips abroad without any problems
- Last routine maintenance was carried out two years ago
- Slight oil leak from underneath engine, which a mechanic suggested was probably due to a bearing
- Fuel tank recently cleaned, brake system partially new, all front and rear brake cylinders replaced and brake master cylinder overhauled
- Everything in the engine compartment is in good condition
With the fabulous all-alloy 'Nord' twin-cam 'Nord' engine by Giuseppe Busso under the bonnet in the top 1.6-litre version, this Alfa performed really well for a car of its era, especially for one with only four cylinders. It also covered significant distances during regularity rallies without manifesting any problems. Although it could benefit from routine maintenance and the correction of the minor faults mentioned above, this example is ready to be enjoyed and is reportedly in excellent mechanical condition.
