The Appeal
If you need to attract customers, you need to stand out. Which explains the enduring appeal of Citroen’s crinkle-panelled HY, a van that manages to draw the eye even when standing next to other classic vans, like VW’s T1 and T2.
The current keeper of this two-tone ‘68 HY understood that when he acquired it in 2024. It was bought to house his mobile ice cream and sorbet business. During his ownership, it is said to have been fully rebuilt and repainted in the eye-catching gold and white you see in the photos. It has also received a £7,000 rebuild of the 1.9L 4cyl petrol engine.
The van is said to run and drive very well, the vendor describing it as driving ‘like new’ with no untoward noises. It is sold with the equipment to run the sorbet and ice cream business, including two freezers and a fridge. The vendor says he can even give you the recipe, which may be worth the price of the van alone!
