The Appeal

The Land Rover is, put simply, one of the most iconic cars in British motoring. Rugged, reliable and versatile, these ever-characterful off-roaders stayed in production for over half a century, through three generations. The formula worked so well that it's not too unusual to still see a venerable Series roaming the countryside.

The 3rd and final iteration of the Land Rover was a car of evolution, not revolution, and it proved very worthy of the name. The latest Landy was a smash hit, and a good example is still highly sought after.

This particular 1972 example is a particularly fine ambassador for what makes these cars so great. With plenty of working patina and those rugged mechanics still intact, it'll no doubt please any enthusiast,

  • The badging, glasswork and trims all appear in good order
  • Some window rubbers have perished
  • Spare tyre attached to the bonnet

  • Dashboard is clear and legible with similar levels of patina
  • Ultimately, it's very characterful and in line with a working vehicle

The Mechanics

  • Repairs carried out to fix an oil leak
  • In 2023, the crankshaft was re-ground, big end and main bearings were changed and various other key components were replaced
