Highlights

  • Great project potential as a desirable G-Series Carrera 3.0
  • Complete with a 993 body kit
  • Engine running prior to entering winter storage
  • California import

The Appeal

For those seeking an intriguing project, here we have something rather unusual…
This 1978 G-Series Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 has been equipped with a 993 body kit - giving it the look of a later 911. The project remains unfinished, leaving the next owner to decide whether to finish the previous keeper’s vision or return it to standard - a task that the vendor states would not be especially complex. We’re informed that its 3.0-litre air-cooled flat-six was running prior to storage and that the G-Series body shell is very sound with only minor surface corrosion.

The History and Paperwork

  • Imported from California USA
  • All taxes/duties paid
  • Now located in Lodz, Poland

The Condition

  • We’re informed that the original G-Series shell is fundamentally unaltered underneath the 993 body kit
  • We’re informed that it is fundamentally solid, with only small spots of surface corrosion
  • Aftermarket alloy wheels in fair condition
  • Some of the body kit panels exhibit some damage, with small scratches, splits and dents
  • The interior looks mostly complete and predominantly original to 1978
  • Some wear and age-commensurate deterioration to the bodywork
  • Some stains and wear to the headlining
  • The carpets require replacement
  • Equipped with a sunroof

The Mechanics

  • 3.0-litre NA air-cooled flat-six
  • Five-speed manual gearbox
  • All appears largely original inside the engine compartment
  • The vendor provides a video of the engine running prior to the car entering storage
