The Appeal

By the late 1960s, Land Rover had honed a highly capable off-roader, but it seriously lacked refinement. Their answer to this dilemma was the development of the ‘Range Rover’, launched in 1970. It combined the Series Land Rover’s off-road ability with the comfort of a conventional road car. Early examples, (especially those with only two doors) are regarded as a design classic and so are greatly coveted by collectors.
Here we have one such ‘Suffix F’ example which is in fantastic condition for its age. Resplendent in ‘Sahara Dust’ paintwork over a light brown interior, it’s commendably original and benefits from a two-year restoration carried out from 2008-2010.
The vendor intended to participate in a cross-Sahara rally and so incorporated upgrades such as electronic ignition, twin batteries, improved suspension, and a long-range fuel tank. The rally was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid, so the Range Rover is now surplus to requirements. For those seeking a well-restored, thoroughly sorted and yet still highly original two-door example, this would be an excellent candidate.
