THE ATTRACTIONS

The 1982 Maserati Biturbo represented a turning point in the history of the House of the Trident, which had only a few years before passed under the leadership of Alejandro de Tomaso, who pushed for the creation of this model.
With the Biturbo, Maserati went from selling a few hundred exclusive granturismos a year to producing thousands of cars, becoming the great leader in the high performance car sector that it is today.

The first Biturbo coupé was a compact grand tourer, with attractive styling, luxurious interior and twin-turbocharged, 3-valve per cylinder V6 engines available in two versions, a 2-litre with 180 hp and a 2.5-litre with 192 hp.
Performance was impressive for the time and price range, with acceleration and pick-up at the top of the category. The four disc brakes ensured effective and balanced braking.

The styling of the Biturbo, inspired by the flagship Quattroporte designed by Giugiaro, was characterised by a discreet aggressiveness, underlined by its wedge-shaped profile and short tail with four exhaust tailpipes.

The interior was very well finished and particularly well cared for, with unmistakably designed seats upholstered in high-quality leather, walnut wood trim and the famous oval clock in the centre of the dashboard.

The open Biturbo Spyder version, designed by Zagato and based on a slightly shortened floorpan, was presented in 1985.
Exclusive and characterised by an exciting and refined line, it was one of the most sought-after open-top GTs of the 1980s.

This 1986 Maserati Biturbo Spyder, registered with the ASI since 2011, is equipped with a two-litre engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

The seller informs us that the mechanics received extensive maintenance in 2022, which included replacement of the timing belts, installation of a new exhaust system and an overhaul of the braking system.

The attractive and impressive interior is well preserved, with undamaged surfaces and shiny, healthy wood trim.

The bodywork with its elegant design and classic proportions is in good condition, having been restored in recent years, in a rare and refined metallic silver colour and is enhanced by a blue canvas roof.

With a bodywork designed by Zagato and produced in only 286 examples for this first series, and just over three thousand examples produced of all Maserati Spyders in 10 years of production with varying capacities and vintages, the limited run guarantees its future performance. The Spyder has always been one of the most sought-after versions of the Biturbo, with ever-rising prices and destined for a prestigious collector's future.

Rare, powerful and endowed with an elegance and charm that remain unchanged over time, this Maserati Biturbo Spyder, preserved with great care and scrupulously maintained over the years, is a must-have example of one of the most coveted and exclusive Italian sports cars of the 1980s.

  • Rear stitching
  • Efficient instrumentation
  • Air-conditioning
  • Well-preserved bodywork
  • Alloy wheels remanufactured by a specialist company in the Treviso area
  • Bumpers, chrome, exterior trim and badges intact

The interior of the Maserati Biturbo was one of the model's strong points.
Breaking away from the fashion of the time, which saw squared-off interiors and heavy use of plastic, the Biturbo offered a unique and impressive design, with rich wood trim, comfortable leather upholstered seats and refined details such as the famous analogue clock.

The interior of this Spyder has been carefully maintained over the years and is in remarkably good condition, with polished, intact wood detailing and leather upholstery, covering the seats, side panels and dashboard, free of visible flaws.

The seats are the original ones from the period, but have been dyed to make them fresher, cleaner, and nice to look at and also to the touch. The central armrest has also been dyed, throughout by professionals. The characteristic seats and central armrest have been treated with special products to preserve the leather.

The interior is enhanced by the handsome four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, the gearstick lever with leather headset and wooden knob, two rear folding seats to accommodate additional passengers, a handsome soft top cover in the same colour as the interior, and tobacco-coloured carpets and floor mats that are undamaged and clean.

The sports dashboard with Jaeger dials and turbocharger pressure gauge is striking and in excellent condition.

The canvas soft-top interior is clean and well-finished and creates a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere.

The bodywork, in a rare metallic silver colour of great refinement, appears well maintained and free of noteworthy defects, with chrome and plastic parts in good condition and headlights, windows, badges and the striking chrome grille well preserved. The exterior bodywork has been redone in recent years, and the alloy wheels have also been remanufactured by a specialist firm in the Treviso area.

The striking appearance is completed by the soft top in an exclusive blue colour, in good overall condition but with some signs of wear compatible with age.
