The 205 GTI is light, manoeuvrable and fast. And widely acclaimed as one of the best sports cars of all time. But there's a little hatchback that, for some, is even better.
We're still talking about a 205, but this is the XS. With its 85bhp, it's not as fast as its predecessor, but thanks to its lighter TU engine, the handling is more precise. And Peugeot was delighted with its efficiency when the French manufacturer used it as the basis for one of the best 205s of all time: the Rallye.
Today, the 205 XS is extremely rare. All of which is likely to make this surviving example highly sought-after. This is a low-mileage, original car that has known only three registered owners - the first of whom kept it until 2022.
Restored in 2022 and then undergoing further mechanical work, including clutch and timing belts, this car is a real nugget. A long, flawless MOT valid until October 2025 will probably make you fall for this rare example of a most brilliant sports car for good.
