The Appeal
The last of the R107 SLs are often regarded as the best of the bunch.
From 1985, the 280 (featuring the M110 engine) was superseded by the M103-powered 300. The resultant performance increase meant owning a straight-six SL no longer felt like the lowly option, as the on-road performance was now much closer to its thirstier V8-engined siblings. Moreover, in 1986, Mercedes-Benz began galvanising the R107’s body shell, greatly improving corrosion resistance.
All that makes this 1989 300 SL very appealing and to further tempt you, it’s in lovely condition. Resplendent in Signal Red over beige leather upholstery, it’s a handsome example and is complete with its matching removable hard top. With just one former registered keeper, it’s clearly been cherished all its live and benefits from an advisory-free MOT valid until 15th February 2025.
