THE ATTRACTIONS
At the beginning of the 1980s, Toyota began introducing new front-wheel drive cars to the market, including the fourth-generation Celica coupé, which could no longer be used as the basis for the powerful six-cylinder Supra versions.
Given the success of the previous two generations based on the Celicas, Toyota therefore decided to equip the Supra with its own rear-wheel-drive platform.
The result was a completely new Supra, much more sophisticated than previous models, with a completely new chassis, sophisticated suspension, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes and high-tech options such as electronically adjustable dampers, ABS and electronic slip control.
The third-generation Supra was a stylish and practical 2+2 with a glass tailgate and optional 'Sport Roof' sunroof with a removable Targa-style panel.
The engine was the legendary seven-cylinder 7M-GEU with two overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder three-litre, naturally aspirated and turbocharged 7M-GTE versions, which gave it a high level of performance for the time, aided by excellent road holding and high grip when cornering and braking.
Technologically advanced, elegant and discreet, comfortable and fast, the third-generation Supra was the best-selling Supra ever and retains a prominent place among modern Japanese sports cars.
This 1990 3.0i Turbo example is the most desirable and powerful version of this generation, having also benefited from the many aesthetic and mechanical improvements introduced with the 1989 restyling. It has been in Italy ever since, and features a body in excellent condition with the desirable optional removable roof, original and undamaged alloy wheels, and an interior in very good condition, with handsome leather-trimmed sports seats.
With only two owners from new, the second of whom lovingly cared for it for 30 years, it has solid mechanics that have been meticulously tuned, received recent servicing, and is ready to go.
Registered with the ASI since 2011, it is accompanied by its original registration booklet, service booklet and owner's manual.
This Supra retains the exotic charm of a rare 1980s super sports car, with its characteristic pop-up headlights, long, sharp front end and fastback rear end, and, thanks to its really good condition, allows one to relive that period of ferment and important technical evolution in the best possible way, appreciating the care and originality of every detail and the legendary build quality of the top vehicle in the Toyota range.
Sold new in Italy, this Supra has had only two owners, the second of whom has kept it with him for thirty years.
It has been driven very rarely in recent years and has therefore not undergone a periodic overhaul, but has always been kept in good mechanical condition.

This Supra has Italian papers, original coupons and service booklets and has been registered with the ASI since 2011.
