The Appeal
The Allante was Cadillac’s first roadster since the 1930s and a response to European models by Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar. No surprise then, that the firm looked to Italy for design inspiration. The resulting Pininfarina-penned car channeled the understated style of its rivals with a very American approach to luxury and propulsion.
The cars were built by Pininfarina in Italy but finished by Cadillac in Detroit. Later ones got the firm’s new Northstar 32 valve 4.6litre V8 cranking out 290bhp.
This low mileage Northstar Allante is one of the last built, a 1995 car that now resides in Switzerland. It has clearly been cared for. As an alternative to the more common European 2 seater GTs, this powerful car looks like a tempting road trip companion.
