The Appeal
Mercedes-Benz’ response to the MX5 challenge was as inspired as it was unusual. Shrinking the ethos and technology from its big SL created a unique coupe-to-convertible competitor.
The SLK combined the firm’s clever folding hard top with an appealing range of engines to deliver a sports car that was both engaging and relaxing. Enthusiasts particularly like the 2.3litre M111 SLK230. It offers sprightly performance with a lighter front end that the V6 cars that assists handling.
The R170 is increasingly popular as a usable classic convertible and this SLK230 is a very good one. A low mileage car with lots of history and very clean condition inside and out, it is surely what most buyers are looking for in these cars. A long MOT with no advisories adds further reassurance.
