The Appeal

Icon is a word bandied about a lot these days, but the R34 Skyline justifies the title. The last of the original Skylines, Nissan turned everything up to 11. This was a sports car that could easily mix it with supercars.  

Only a handful were officially imported to the UK, meaning that enthusiasts ever since have been clamouring to import them from Japan.  These cars are so good that they don't just appeal to dedicated JDM enthusiasts, they are collectible by simple lovers of brilliant sports cars.  
Nissan’s enthusiasm for improving and upgrading the R34 was quickly picked up by specialists. There are innumerable ways to make this already brilliant car even better, but the key is to make sure that any work is managed and implemented by someone who knows what they are doing.
This is just such a car. The very high end specification makes it quite possibly unique.  Certainly it has to be one of the best R34 GTRs in the world. 

It left the factory as a GT-R V-Spec but has been extensively upgraded since - work that is recorded in the history file. This includes a BNR34 GT-R VSII Nur base engine. The suspension, brakes and many other areas have, naturally, been improved to match. 

The upgrades have been professionally and carefully applied to deliver perhaps the ultimate R34 GTR, one that is at home in regular driving as attacking tracks.  
It spent its life in salt-free Japan before arriving here in early 2023, which explains the very good condition. This potent car has clearly been cared for. There are few about and this one must surely be amongst the best available on these shores, if not further afield.

Surely much of the appeal of this modified R34 is that it retains much of the standard aesthetics that turned these cars into such icons. Finished in understated white, the paintwork and bodywork is very well kept no doubt helped by the salt-free Japanese roads.  

Outside there are some choice hints at this car's potential, ones that create a more aggressive and poised appearance, such as the genuine V-Spec carbon rear diffuser. 
Inside the interior betrays few of the modifications that this car has received. The seats and cabin are largely GT-R standard, only opening the glove box reveals a host of tasty dials and switches to control the innumerable enhancements.  There is also a HKS boost controller.  
Elsewhere there is a modern Panasonic infotainment system and a general sense of a cared for car with few signs of wear or use.

  • HKS Coilovers: deliver a great balance of comfort and performance.  They provide surprising good ride plus reduced body roll in aggressive cornering manoeuvres
  • Aftermarket suspension set-up: gives driver full control to set up the geometry to optimise performance to individual requirements 
  • Upgraded fuelling and cooling systems: ensures the fuel keeps flowing while the Sard radiator and Greddy oil cooler keep the engine cool even during intense driving
  • Boot Swirl Pot: ensures a steady supply of fuel with no fuel starvation even in high G-force corners
  • HKS V-Cam system: operates continuously to vary valve lift and timing, providing efficiency at low and medium speeds and more power at higher revs and enables turbo to spool up at quicker rate to work across wider rev range 
  • Trust T78 Single Turbo: highly regarded for its large capacity and crank horsepower potential whilst minimising turbo lag 
  • N1 24U Nur engine: upgraded with multiple forged parts to improve the RB26 engine and fitted with Umeda/Tomei oil pump to prevent oiling problems and maintain consistent oil pressure even in extreme conditions 
Contemporary reviewers waxed lyrical about the scintillating performance of the standard R34 GT-R. And yet this was a car capable of so much more, as this example proves. It features upgrades informed by Nissan’s factory improvements but goes considerably further. The specification channels the knowledge and experience of its specialist tuners to deliver a car vastly more capable than the way it left the factory.
