The Appeal
The W461 may be better known as a Mercedes-Benz but it was built by Steyr-Daimler-Puch and a Puch-branded version was available in some marks. Simply known as the G, it gave buyers the same exceptional engineering standards and go-anywhere versatility of its better-known cousin.
The 290GDT combined the durability of the highly regarded OM602 diesel engine with useful 118bhp forced induction.
This superb 1999 290GDT started life as a highly specified G in green. It has just emerged from a two year restoration by a renowned model specialist. It really is in virtually as new condition, the work having covered every aspect of the vehicle from chassis through mechanicals to bodywork.
Nearly 25 years after it was first built, this G remains a hugely capable 4x4. Opportunities to acquire fully restored examples like this one are exceptionally rare.
