2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 S

Highlights

  • Early high performance Carrera 3.8 S
  • Full history with recent service
  • Long MOT to September 2024 with no advisories
  • Smart and highly specified car

The Appeal

It’s a simple letter but as any Porsche enthusiast knows, it means a lot. Adding a ‘S’ to the 997 Carrera 2’s model name spelt a bigger engine, significant hike in power and some choice standard features including the firm’s PASM adjustable suspension.
The result was a faster, more engaging car with improved aesthetics to go alongside the 997’s pleasing echos of the original car, applied to the dashboard and the headlights.
This very early Carrera 2 S is smartly finished in understated dark grey metallic, the paintwork attractively offset by bronze 19in ‘S’ alloys. It is in very good condition inside and out and comes with the reassurance of full service history, including a recent service. A long MOT with no advisories gives extra incentive to consider this much-cared for example in a very desirable specification.

The Condition

  • Smart and understated dark grey metallic with matching interior
  • Exterior neatly accented by red calipers and bronze 19in S alloys
  • 997 returned classic 911-style headlights
  • Wel kept factory alloy wheels showing no marking and with Michelin tyres
  • Underside in good order with no structural advisories on recent MOTs
  • High specification interior with Porsche navigation, Bose speakers and seat heaters
  • Alcantara three spoke steering wheel echoes classic designs
  • Leather seats in good order showing little wear
The 997 returned some choice classic 911 features on the inside and outside, which were welcomed by enthusiasts. For a design that is now 20 years old, this early 997 looks remarkably fresh. No doubt part of that is down to the well kept, understated slate grey metallic paintwork of this car.
The same is true of the rest of the exterior, including the neatly contrasting bronze alloys. Even the red calipers retain their colour. Inside the cabin is similarly well kept with little wear across oft-used surfaces. It is a well specified car including Alcantara steering wheel, factory navigation and seat heaters.

The Mechanics

  • Uprated 3,824cc flat six Porsche engine developing 350bhp in S trim
  • Desirable 6spd manual gearbox
  • 0-60moh in 4.7secs
  • Full service history including recent attention
Only subtle sill trims provide any clue that this is the uprated S model with 3.8litre 350bhp flat six. And in a car as subtly specified as this one, that feels entirely appropriate.
The mechanical condition matches the aesthetics, a fact confirmed by the full service history. There are 10 book stamps plus an additional service in October 2023 undertaken by marque specialists.
