While Europe’s manufacturers were busy responding to the rise of the Range Rover, over in America GM took its time to compile its answer. The result, from 1999, was the Escalade, Cadillac’s subtle but very luxurious take on the British upstart.
The third generation introduced a boxy, understated ‘edge’ style that won fans across celebrity, political and ultra rich circles. Across TV and cinema screens, wherever the idea of power had to be conveyed, there was a black Escalade. And with good reason - these were as rugged and spacious as they were purposeful.
These vast seven seaters are a rare sight on these shores, which makes this one particularly stand out. Originally a Turkmenistan Embassy car it is a ‘ESV’ long wheelbase model classically finished in black with cream interior. Well kept, practical and luxurious, it is naturally fitted with the 6.2litre 400bhp ‘Vortex; engine. It comes with the reassurance of a long MOT.
