If the 911 is the best car Porsche ever built then the best 911 ever made is the 1973 Carrera 2. 7 RS.
Despite initially being built to only satisfy a Group 4 homologation requirement of 500 units, the 911 2. 7 Carrera RS proved to be immensely popular with enthusiasts. Porsche responded to demand by increasing the price and building a further 1, 080 cars.
Over four decades later and that demand is stronger than ever with prices for the original cars continuing to soar skyward, a state of affairs that has inspired many a Porsche enthusiast to create an homage of what was one of the defining sports cars of its era.
Carrera Silver with Black Carrera script, Black perforated leather Rennsport seats, sunroof, a 1988 3. 2 Carrera generation flat six air-cooled power unit with a power-upgrade, notchy G50 box, Bilstein shock absorbers, 16? Fuchs on 7? and 8? widths with a Lightweight interior including pull handles and Prototipo steering wheel the masterfully built car offered is one of the finest 2. 7 RS Recreations in the country.
Built between 2011-2012 and featuring electric windows, air-conditioning and a modern stereo with Bluetooth compatibility; from the correct glass fibre moulded bumpers and ducktail, to the pragmatic German approach to panel fit and flawless paintwork with a brilliant depth of finish and the painstakingly-well fitted interior trim this 911 is a one-inch-punch KO.
Seldom available to own and drive and recently the subject of a major mechanical overhaul this 2. 7 RS Recreation is perfectly prepped to drive off the showroom floor and breathe fire into your weekend escape drives.
Something that has a wow factor that after you park, lock the door and walk away, makes you turn back for a second take, that is just phenomenally well executed and practical too makes this 911 one to own and invest in.
