Highlights
- Restored to a high standard and ready to use or display
- Reportedly driving well with PTO working correctly
- Rare and collectable model; perfect addition to any Porsche collection
The Appeal
Alongside his Pioneering ‘Volks-Wagen’ design, Dr Ferdinand Porsche also planned to build a ‘Volks-Tractor’ - agricultural equipment for the masses. The Porsche tractors were released during the 1940s, but it was post-war when they really took off.
This 1962 example is the well-regarded and desirable Junior 108, powered by an 822cc single cylinder air-cooled diesel engine and equipped with a power takeoff.
These were a successful tractor in period, and remain popular for vintage tractor events. As the photos show, this tractor has been restored to a very high standard. We’re assured that it runs well and is ready to use.
The History and Paperwork
- 1962 manufacture
- We’re informed this tractor was imported to the UK and all fees have been paid
- Not UK road registered
- Retains its original chassis plates
The Condition
- Restored to a high standard
- Straight and solid tinware
- Evocative red paint scheme in very fine condition
- Slight perishing to the agri tyres; otherwise serviceable
This tractor has been restored very well; all the tinware appears immensely straight, free from corrosion and looks to have been repainted with a high gloss finish.
All of the badging and what few items of trim there are all look to be in superb order, including the seat upholstery. The wheels present exceedingly well, and the tyres are serviceable despite some signs of age.
The controls exhibit minimal wear, and the sole gauge indicates engine temperature. The tractor is complete with a heavy-duty agri pin-type hitch, as well as a conventional tow ball on a fixed draw bar. There’s also a railing to accommodate an extra passenger atop the nearside rear wing.
This is a very smart machine that would be perfect for attending shows or displaying in a collection.
The Mechanics
- Single cylinder, 822cc air-cooled diesel engine
- 6-speed gearbox with high/low range, rear diff lock and PTO
- Reportedly starts first time on every occasion and drives well
The vendor informs us that this Porsche runs really well. They have no issues to report regarding its operation, and we understand all gears and PTO functions to be working correctly.
These single-cylinder, air-cooled diesel engines are remarkably simple and are willing to work hard, ideally suiting them for agricultural applications. This tractor will be an ideal choice for road runs or towing duties. Maintenance is simplified by the lack of hydraulics fitted to this particular example.
