The Appeal
The Porsche 914 originates from an intriguing and oft-forgotten chapter in Porsche's history, offering mid-engine balance and handling in an affordable package that has since developed a dedicated cult following. Developed in collaboration with Volkswagen as a replacement for the four-cylinder 912, the 914 was a bold new design that has aged very well indeed.
This 1974 example has been restored by its current owner after being imported from Arizona, benefiting from the dry climate preservation despite showing some interior wear from the desert sun. It received a comprehensive mechanical rebuild in 2018, including new barrels, pistons, and camshaft, along with an exterior respray in its original colour.
With less than 10,000 miles covered in current ownership, it's time for a new custodian to enjoy this mid-engined marvel.
The vendor says:
"Finally, how would you summarise the vehicle? This car is a genuine blast to drive, it is small, agile and corners amazingly, more smiles per mile than anything else I have owned. Turns heads wherever it goes and I am gutted to see it go, but the wife doesn't like it and I have bought a replacement which now needs the garage space. Will be genuinely sad to see it go."
