Despite being well into its third decade of sales, the humble Austin Mini remained a popular car through the 1980s, its long-standing popularity, low purchase and running costs, massive character and hugely entertaining driving characteristics meaning it continued to roll out of Austin-Rover dealerships alongside the company’s thrusting new models developed alongside Japanese brand Honda.
This one is very typical of a 1980s Mini – finished in striking Primrose Yellow, it’s a “posh” Mayfair model, which means it comes with velour trim and opening rear windows. At the time, the Mini was offered in two trims – City and Mayfair – the former being a purely basic Mini and the latter having greater comfort and even a rev counter!
A genuine low-mileage car, it’s in lovely order inside and out and has clearly been well-loved by its previous owners. Unmodified apart from some Minilite-style wheels, it’s a great opportunity and potential future investment

SUMMARY
Everyone loves a Mini, and this one is evocative of those that were commonly seen on the roads throughout the 1980s and 1990s, other than the fact that – unlike many of those examples – this one appears to be fantastically solid with no visible signs of any structural corrosion and great overall bodywork.
The brown interior adds even more period appeal – it’s gloriously brown wherever you look and is also in fabulous, well-preserved order.
Then there’s the colour – as bold and vibrant as Minis of the era got, it’s a car with immense character that will be a joy to own and an absolute hoot to drive. Look after it and it promises to be a sound investment, too.
