The Appeal

The 159 took what was great about the 156 - the looks, the handling, the Alfaness - and made it better, crucially by adding some much-needed Germanic build quality. The version you want is this one, the exceptionally rare 1750TBI - know as the TI - with the 200bhp 4cyl turbocharged engine. It is nearly as quick as the V6s but with a lighter engine up front it handles much better.

This model was highly rated by contemporary reviewers, in particular for the improved handling that cured the 159’s tendency to understeer. Despite its multifold appeal, the TI was not a big seller so few arrive on the market where they are usually snapped up by enthusiasts.

This 2011 TI is a timely reminder of how handsome the 159 Sportwagon is. Finished in Carbonio Black with recently refurbished 19in alloys on new tyres, it also has the optional Alfatex and Alcantara leather interior. Inside and out it is a well kept car.

Recent 2024 work has included a service and cambelt change less than 500 miles ago. The car is reported to run and drive very well and will be sold with a fresh 12 months MOT.
