Why we love it
The Sprinter is an ideal base for a proper expedition-vehicle project thanks to its generous usable volume, its substantial onboard payload and the renowned Mercedes-Benz build quality, known for durability and longevity. However, this example goes even further: it’s a 5-tonne version fitted with engageable all-wheel drive with low-range gearing, delivering off-road capability that very few leisure vehicles can honestly claim.
What really sets this 2021 Sprinter apart is the quality and completeness of its professional conversion. Built over two years by Oley Workshop, with joinery by Yannick De Lauw, the transformation has created a true self-contained home. The whole interior is finished with maple veneer and solid maple wood, paired with furniture in maple plywood—creating a warm, long-lasting environment perfectly suited to extended stays off the grid.
The living space includes, among other things, a king-size bed, a dual-zone fridge-freezer, an oven with grill, a three-burner hob, an internal shower and dry toilets. Solar recharging, diesel heating, hot-water production and the water filtration system all ensure excellent autonomy.
The base vehicle also benefits from a remarkable level of equipment, with nearly €30,000 worth of factory options. Showing just 9,700 km and maintained exclusively within the Mercedes-Benz network, it’s a rare opportunity to buy an almost-new vehicle combined with a conversion carried out with exceptional care.
The seller states that “the vehicle is fully equipped and ready to go… a real advantage just before the summer holidays… fully-equipped 4x4… the interior was designed and built by professionals, with superb finishes in solid maple, carried out by a talented cabinet-maker.”
The seller also adds: “The (very rare) twin sliding doors provide an unobstructed view to the outside, ideal for cooking. Set up for long trips without worrying about weight: large water tanks, etc. Open-plan interior space (no fixed shower cubicle). Retractable internal and external showers. Nice interior lighting. Very little used (4 weeks), sold due to an immediate move to a location with difficult access after the end of the build work. Optional: a wooden terrace on the roof, an indoor wood stove (for leisure, etc.).”
The seller describes the bodywork, paintwork, cabin and mechanicals as being in near-new condition.
