This original, matching numbers C spec Dart, was first registered to Stratstones of Berkeley Street W1, in May 1964. In September of that year it was sold to a Mr. Rylance of Henley-on-Thames who kept the car until 1976 when it passed to R. Cotterill & Son, also of Henley-on-Thames. They owned the car until 1993 when the present keeper acquired it.
The Dart has a recorded mileage of 81, 941. There are MOT certificates going back to 1976 when the mileage was 72, 815, just over 9, 000 miles in forty three years, and it is believed that the overall mileage is correct. The car is in delightfully original condition having never been restored or modified, the only update being a Dynamator which is an alternator that looks like the original dynamo.
The paintwork has obviously been refreshed at some time in the car's life, and there is light microblistering in a couple of areas. The finish is otherwise very good and there is no evidence of any cracks. The panel and door fit is excellent with no sagging. The underside has a new driver's side sill but is otherwise original and is clean and sound. The interior is gently worn with original carpets and seats which are lightly creased and soft. The red hood has been replaced at some point and fits beautifully and there is a full tonneau in red.
C spec Darts are the last of the line and feature strengthened chassis to reduce body flex. As with all SP 250s, the engine is 2. 5 a litre V8 litre with twin SU carburettors and this car has the four speed manual gearbox. Importantly the engine is the original unit and matches the I. D. plate on the bulkhead.
As you would expect, the V8 engine sounds glorious, and car drives well. The car has always been serviced and MOT'd but it has not had much use in recent years.
A delightfully original and unmolested Daimler Dart with low mileage and very low ownership.
